Q. How long does it take?

The good news is that it takes very little time. The procedure begins with a preparation period followed by as little as 30 minutes, but may take as much as one hour of whitening. We recommend a pre-treatment cleaning session with your dentist to maximize the whitening potential.

Q. How much whiter can I expect my teeth to be?

The system improves your tooth whiteness by as much as 2- 20 shades, as measured by the Portrait Shade Guide. (The darker the teeth the more shades can be achieved.)

Q. How long does it last?

The results can last up to 1-5 years (depending on your habits), and your teeth will certainly be lighter than they were. You will need to follow simple post-whitening care instructions – flossing, brushing three times a day with your favorite tooth paste or by using Pearl White whitening toothpaste. Your mouth’s health is integral to the success of the whitening. Regular visits to your dentist and dental hygienists will help to ensure that your teeth are as fighting fit as they can be.

Q. Can it hurt?

Sensitivity can occur in some patients during the treatment. This is usually a mild burning feeling, but no damage is done. On very rare occasions, a minor tingling sensation maybe experienced immediately after the whitening, but doesn’t last long.

Q. Is teeth whitening suitable for everyone?

Teeth whitening is a well-established procedure in cosmetic dentistry. Hydrogen peroxide solution, the active ingredient in whitening, has been used safely for many years in the treatment of many dental procedures.

However if you are light sensitive, undergoing PUVA therapy (Psoralen +UV Radiation), photo chemotherapy or if you have a melanoma, (a rarer types of skin cancer), we’d recommend tray-based whitening instead.

If you are taking any light-sensitive drugs - prescription, homeopathic or over the counter - then you should consult your doctor before treatment.
